Good - if you can work out the wiring; here's how....

Good - if you can work out the wiring; here's how....
These are good value patch panels if you don't need a rack mount system. But the wiring really isn't at all clear and on the leaflet that came with the panel, the instructions were absolutely wrong and the wiring label inside is confusing to say the least. The ones I bought were the straight 12 port CAT6 ones. I've uploaded a photo of the correct wiring for Port 1 using the T568B wiring scheme. Starting at top left and going down and then across to top right and down, the colours are Blue, Blue/White, Green, Green/White, Brown, Brown/White, Orange, Orange/White.Port 2 is wired in exactly the same way using the next four terminals on the left side and the next four on the right side.I'd give them five stars if it wasn't for the fact that I've had to spend an hour or so working this out.

This is a decent bit of kit when used with a quality punch down tool. The diagram is confusing. Ignore the 123456 numbers... It's wired right to left, Blue/white to brown. When wiring the patch panel just fit the panel over, makes me a zinch to do.

Used this to terminate cables around my house in the cupoard with my switch, so i only have to run patch cables between this and my switch. Good as the black faceplate detaches fromn the mounting bracket and can be fitted horizontally or vertically. My only gripe was that the wiring colours were difficult to see, but more importanttly when youve almost maxed it out with cables, its very difficult to get it to fit back onto the bracket. However it's been clipped back in for 2 years now and not broken off so I'd say it's reliable!!

This was a perfect fit into 50mm trunking. No need for messy wiring or drilling on the extra mounting bracket. Looks really neat and tidy into the trunking. Just make sure you are wiring up properly. For the diy guys doing the negative reviews they should have:
    1) YouTubed a video on how to do it right
    2) choose only 1 schema to wire in (look at wiring only in A or B schema)
    3) buy a decent punch down tool and tester for checking
    4) no running too close to power lines
    5) take your time and do it right (some people don’t punch down at 90 degrees and end up damaging or twisting the socket pins resulting in bad connections)

Overall I’m quite happy with the product and ended up getting another one for future expansion plans

I installed this today for my home CCTV
The Poe works perfectly and it was easy to fit. The wiring colours diagram on the back is totally easy to understand, you just need to know if you are wiring A or B style, then follow the colours.
Highly recommend and worked a treat for my purpose

It does the job at a very good price and I ordered 3 of them (1 first, then two more). Delivery was fast.
Complaints made elsewhere about understanding the connection diagrams are justified as one needs to spend a little time just to be certain about what is what but it is worth the effort. I did some testing (tracing front socket to-back connection pin-outs) first just to be sure.

The key to understanding is to start out at the back of the panel and draw your own ink line across the pasted-on diagram between each set of 4 connections (i.e. 4 punch-down pins on the left opposite 4 on the right) and then mark your own socket number 1 to 12 against each of these pairs of 4, so that the back (previously unclear) socket numbers correspond with the front (very clear) socket numbers.
The pin-out of each such socket can then be quickly deduced from the pasted-on diagram in the centre back of the panel, once you decide on your preference for T568A or T568B wiring. For T568B, starting from the socket 1 end towards socket 12 end, the pin-out of each socket is: On left-hand side green/white, green, blue/white, blue; and on right-hand side is orange/white, orange, brown/white, brown. If you prefer numbers, this corresponds to pin numbers 3, 6, 5, 4 on left and 1, 2, 7, 8 on the right.

    Hope that helps.

With that sorted, my only criticism is that there isn't really enough comfortable space for laying 12 CAT6 cables in neatly, without individual wires crossing cables and/or some cables not being securely tied down. I got up to 8 cables reasonably well secured and working, which has been enough for now but will find it difficult to secure the additional cables later having punched down the wires. Still, for anyone not needing more than 7 or 8 cables connected, this is a good, cheap offer.

Nice, solid quality patch panel - solid metal panel with plastic wall mounting bracket. A neat and professional way to terminate multiple cables in one location. I fitted this in my office room, which is where the cat5e drops to the rest of the house terminate, as my router, home server and network switch all live under the desk. I don't need all 12 ports, but it gives me some room for future network expansion!

Relatively easy to wire once figured out. Seeing the groups of 8 connectors, at first glance I expected each "block" was one port, but it's not - two pairs of each cable go to each side - the colour coding diagrams should make it clear what goes where, but if not, holding the unit with port one to your left, looking at the back of it, for TS568B the four gaps from left to right will be brown, brown stripe, orange, orange stripe, and the bottom four from left to right will be blue, blue stripe, green, green stripe - that's port one's pins, then you just repeat the pattern for the next four gaps to the right for port 2, etc.

I have a soil stack with plenty of space behind that I've been running my ethernet down, so I decided to flush mount this. To do so I drilled a few screws in the metal front to screw to the plasterboard, and it looks really nice!

Push fittings work as expected, and everything is connected up at 1gig speeds.
